I just this evening finished listening to Violetta by Isabel Allende. I sat quietly stitching and listing to this story.  It is a wonderful novel loosely based on the author’s mother. Set in Chile, the authors home, it is another one of Isabell Allende’s great stories. It is told with compassion and insight, I could feel the agony and the ecstasy of the main character's life.  The story begins in 1918 with the Spanish flu and it ends in 2022 with coronavirus. We learn much of Chilean history through the eyes of Violetta and her loves and her children and her beloved grandson. The novel is written almost like a memoir to her grandson so that he can learn of her and her family through this writing.

Remarkable novel…stay with it, should you hesitate.
