The Tuscan Child

An interesting story with a mysterious bent.  Johanna, studying to be a lawyer in London, has an unfortunate love affair.  She also loses her distant father, only to discover as she clears out his belongings at the former family estate, that he father may have had a different life.  He had been shot down during the war and was rescued and brought back to health by Sofia in the Italian village of San Santorini, a fictional spot, near Lucca.  The characters are well developed and the story moves along quickly from Johanna’s viewpoint, contemporary and also that of her father, Hugo, during the war.

An easy read the descriptions of the food made me hungry!
