The Sweetness of Water

I really loved this book.  The emotions jumped right off the audio.  The Sweeness of Water brings so much of our history to the forefront.  Family, loyalty, compassion, prejudice, honesty….all the good and bad stuff.  George and Isabelle Walker, their son Caleb and the two black brothers, Prentiss and Landry who appear on the Walker land are at the heart of this novel.  Setting is in Georgia, after the Emancipation Proclamation in the reconstruction south where black people are “freed”.  Not everyone abided those thoughts and it is clear to see that in this novel.  Read or listen to this book.
