The Music Shop

This is one of the most delightful books that I have read in a long time.  I actually listened to it and the voices are superb.  The link that you go to when you click on the cover of the book to the left brings you to a review by the Washington Post that says it all so much better than I.  Frank, Elsa, Maud, Kit, Father Antony are bigger than life characters with many different facets, sadnesses and joys.  It is exquisitely told.

There is a run down music shop on Unity St. in London.  The shop only sells vinyl and the shop is owned by Frank.  Then neighborhood is run down, with Maud’s tattoo parlor, Father Antony’s religious article shop and a few other stores.  This is our setting.  Enter Elsa Baukman who faints on the street one day.  She has a story and her story and all of the others makes this a marvelous book.

Incidentally, the author of this book also wrote another one of my most favorite books…..The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.

More than highly recommended!
