The Great Alone

This is an extraordinary novel.  On so many levels, it was truly amazing.  The author’s description of Alaska are incredible and so descriptive that one cannot almost see and feel the great expansess.  The sections that spoke of winter’s harshness were realistic.  and then the characters and the damage.  Cora and Leni, mother and daughter who try to survive Ernst’s rages and PTSD and still love the husband and father.  Tom Walker and Matthew, Large Marge and all the other wonderful characters become like people you know.  Through tragedy, loyalty and survival, we as readers are taken on a remarkable journey.
