Book of Lost Names

In this story, based on real events, a young Jewish woman uses her skills in forgery to make documents to help Jewish children escape to Switzerland.

2014…..Eva Traube Abrams, 80’s, a semi-retired librarian in Floria, is shelving books one morning when her eyes lock on a photograph in a newspaper nearby.  The year is 2014.  She freezes; it’s an image of a book she hasn’t seen in sixty five years——a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Friends.

1942…...Eva Traube, in her early 20’s, is in college living with her parents as the Nazis bear down on Paris in 1942.  Eva is Jewish.  As she makes her escape, she comes to learn how she can help in the resistance.  Along with memorable characters, this story comes alive.

I really enjoyed the two time periods and the way in which the author drew them together.

A very enjoyable read about a tragic time in history.
